What Type of Prints? We offer a range of prints both in terms of size and cost to be best able to serve the needs of our customers. Our 8x10 STANDARD art prints are printed on a #1 expanded gamut dye-sublimation photo printer, a continuous tone printer capable of millions of independent colors (not an ink jet printer!) The 11x14 STANDARD art prints are made on a continuous tone ink jet printer. The main difference between our 11 x14 STANDARD prints and our FINE ART prints of the same size is that the Fine Art prints are printed on museum-quality archival watercolor paper. Also, at the current time, all of our Fine Art Prints are Limited Edition Prints, and will be signed and numbered by the artist. Please keep in mind, that your print will be tweaked to achieve maximum photographic effect, but due to different systems and browsers, true colors of the art may vary slightly from the display image on your screen. In other words, what you get might look even better than what you see! What process is used for our Fine Art Prints? We use the Giclee Printing Process to ensure a print with brilliant, exquisite color and razor sharp detail, specifically designed to meet the rigorous and precise criteria of fine art collectors and connoisseurs of museum quality, limited edition prints. Giclee prints have been shown at numerous major museums and galleries around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum (NY), the Museum of Modern Art NY), Chelsea Galleries (NY), the Los Angeles Musuem of Contemporary Art, the Los Angeles County Museum, the National Museum of Art (Washington D.C.) and the British Museum (London). I now can print on canvas up to 14x19. I have not added this option to any of the pictures yet, but if you are interested please email me at ryaker@yaker.org What is Giclee? The Definition : Giclee (ghee-clay) - The French word "giclée" is a feminine noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The word may have been derived from the French verb "gicler" meaning "to squirt". The Term : The term "giclee print" connotes a revolutionary elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed on enhanced digital ink jet printers, using archival quality inks, onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. From a hundred of inkjets, more than a million droplets of ink per second are sprayed on a canvas or watercolor paper spinning on a drum. A completed image is comprised of almose 20 billion droplets of ink. The resulting print has no perceptible dot pattern, an endless array of richly saturated color, and every nuance of the original image. The most archival, water -based, light-fast inks available in the world are used to guarantee a 70 year light-fastness and UV-resistance under museum archival conditions. Quite simply, the giclee printing process provides the closest duplication of an original artwork that is humanly, mechanically or techinically possible. The giclee print now rivals many traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries. How do I order?
